SURPRISE!

Karen, owner and designer of Your Next Stamp, is having a birthday today. The YNS 'Starlets' are having a surprise blog hop to celebrate the occasion. If you arrived here from Jenny's blog you are at the correct place. If not, you might want to go back to the beginning of the hop HERE.

This is my birthday card for Karen. I used YNS 'Space Boy' to create my card. The inside of the card says,
"Hope your birthday is out of this world". Along with the sentiment are two space creatures.

So now you need to continue the hop by hopping over to Kerri's blog. When you've finished hopping, be sure to stop by Karen's blog to wish her Happy Birthday.

Don't forget about the YNS Birthday Bash Sale HERE.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I appreciate you and your comments. Have a great day! LC

Tag, You're It!

Karen, owner and designer of Your Next Stamp, created a special stamp for ScrapFest. As a YNS 'Starlet' I was fortunate to receive a ScrapFest stamp, and I created several projects for Karen to display at the event. You can see them HERE. Today I created a tag/bookmark with the image.

It was difficult not to add bling and flowers on this tag, but I decided to leave it flat to use as a bookmark.

Whimsie Wednesday

This week's Whimsie Wednesday challenge is issued by Melyssa, owner and designer for Whimsie Doodles. Her challenge is to make a card or project using colors you normally wouldn't think to use. She called this challenge "off color". For example, red and green are almost always "Christmas" colors, and orange and black are "Halloween" colors.

You can read about the challenge HERE and see Melyssa's Frankie who is feeling a bit blue. If you decide to play along be sure to link your creation to the blog for a chance to win a prize.

For the challenge I chose the Whimsie Doodles image, 'Science Guy'. Normally, a lab coat would be white, but for this 'off color' challenge I decided to color the lab coat pink. A lab worker probably would not wear turquoise gloves either.

I hope you feel challenged to make an 'off color' card or project. It's an opportunity to think outside the box and have some fun!

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your visits and comments. Have a great day! LC

Autumn Greetings

I thought I would show you another older Magnolia card I made last year. This card has a great deal going on. It has two folds, a tie closure, paper piecing, and layering of stamped images. I colored the images with Prismacolor markers (before I owned Copics). Prismacolor markers are alcohol markers like Copics. The major differences for me are the blend-ability (Prismacolors take a little more effort) and the lack of skin tones in the Prismacolors. This card also has 3-D embellishments, stickers, and Nestabilities shapes. The papers I used are Flair Designs, Bo Bunny, and cardstock. The images were stamped on Neenah paper with Memento tuxedo black ink.

I hope you have a great day! Thanks for stopping by. LC

Falling Leaves

I have been busy for several days with Mod Podge up to my elbows. I have altering items I purchased at the thrift store and plan to use them in my craft room. Never fear, when I am finished I will take photos of my projects and post them.

Here is a fall card I created with a Magnolia stamp. I made this card when I first discovered Magnolia's. It was colored with Prismacolors (before I owned Copics). To me, it is like looking at your first scrapbook layout and noticing the changes in your techniques and style. Maybe I should make a new card with this stamp and use my Copics. What do you think?

I plan to post another older Magnolia card tomorrow. Just having some fun!

KA-UUUTE!

I want to share one of my favorite blogs, The Dainty Squid. It is a blog I found while surfing one day. Kaylah mentioned on her blog she had an Etsy shop which I also visited. While browsing I found the cutest lime green pouches covered with polka dot mushrooms. I purchased two of those and special ordered a mirror to match. I have them in my purse all the time! KA-UUUTE!

When I visited her blog today she had a giveaway for a pencil pouch....how cute it that?! Her pouches are well-made and completely lined. My pouches are lined with orange polka dot material. KA-UUUTE!

Visit Kaylah's blog and leave a comment for a chance to win a pouch. I love mine!

Whimsie Wednesday Challenge

Good Morning! Today's Whimsie Wednesday Challenge #53 is issued by Doodle-licious Diva, Alicia. She has challenged us to make an ATC, Artist Trading Card. This was a new technique for me. I had heard of ATC's but had never seriously tried to create one. I 'googled' ATC's to learn more about them; I specifically needed to know what size to make an ATC. I learned the size is 2.5" x 3.5".

Here are some links to sites about ATC's.
Cedar Seed (Art in your Pocket)
Artist Trading Cards

Here is my ATC. I chose Whimsie Doodles 'Dracula' from the Halloween Tag image set. Since Whimsie Doodles' images are digital I can manipulate, resize, and alter them. To create Dracula I simply cropped him from the tag. I printed him on Papertrey Ink white cardstock, colored him with Copic markers, and cut him out. He is adhered with 3-d adhesives so he stands out.

I attached the ATC to a card front along with the joke from the tag.

Recipe:
Whimsie Doodles 'Halloween Tag' image and words
Papertrey Ink white cardstock
Copic Markers
Bo Bunny dp
Paper Studio dp
Recollections pearls
cardstock and scraps from stash
Stickles green

Now it is your turn to create an ATC. When you have finished be sure to link it to the Whimsie Doodles blog for a chance to win a prize!

Happy Harvest

Today I want to share with you a card I created using inspiration I got from one of my favorite blogs. There are about 10 blogs I read every day, and one of them is Michelle Wooderson's Mish Mash. I like her style. It is a combination of vintage, softness, flea market, and the right touch. She has the ability to take a stamp, strips of paper, a button or 2, and a bit of string and create an awesome project. I admire her artsy touch when it comes to presentation. Thanks, Michelle, for sharing your creativity and inspiring me and others.

You can find the inspiration for my card HERE on Michelle's blog.

Recipe:
Papertrey Ink 'Vintage Picnic' stamp set
Papertrey Ink 'Just the Ticket' border die
Papertrey Ink 'Just the Ticket' stamp set
Papertrey Ink white cardstock
Design papers from Michael's
Paper and buttons from stash
Bazzill cardstock
Martha Stewart baker's twine
Ribbon dyed with Glimmer Mist (jack o'lantern)
Copic markers
Memento tuxedo black ink

Come back tomorrow and see how others inspire me! Have a great day! LC

Christmas Project

New Whimsie Doodles images were released Tuesday. Have you checked them out? You can see them HERE. There is a Thanksgiving turkey image, snowpeople images, and a recipe card image. Cute stuff!

When I began to color the 'snowpeople' images I knew I wanted to create something other than a card. Ghosts from my previous 'addiction' (scrapbooking) began to float around my craft table whispering, "mini album...mini album". In my scrapbooking days I made many small albums, so the scrapbooking mode kicked in, and this is what I created.

I also put in pages with journaling boxes/photo mats so the owner could add photos or write down memories.
Recipe:
Whimsie Doodles images
Papertrey Ink white cardstock
Copic markers
Star album from Michael's
SU ink for distressing
Cosmo Cricket paper
Daisy Dee paper
Graphic 45 paper
Bazzill cardstock, decorative strip
Jo-lee's
Ranger Stickles, Glossy Accents
Quickutz dies
rhinestones, clip, snowflakes, jingle bells, rub-ons, buttons, glitter
SU ribbon
Making Memories charm
Martha Stewart punch

This was fun to create, especially since it had been a while since I made a mini album. If you are primarily a card maker, don't be intimidated by making a mini album. Just think of it as several cards put together between book covers. Give it a try! LC

Tomorrow's Blog Hop

Whimsie Doodles Challenge

It is Whimsie Wednesday and time for a Whimsie Doodles Challenge. Today's challenge (#52), issued by Doodle-licious Diva Sheri, is to create a Halloween 'trick or TREAT'. Check out the Whimsie Doodles Blog to see the Doodle-licious Divas' spooky creations. Here is mine.

I don't know about you, but I cannot resist Brach's candy corn and pumpkins. To make this TREAT, I recycled an olive jar. Wendy shared a tip for removing odors from jars. After you have removed the labels and washed the jar, place newspaper in the jar, put on the lid, and place the jar in the freezer. The pungent odors (like olives) will be gone. Great tip, Wendy!

The image on the lid is from the Whimsie Doodles September release, Halloween Minis. I printed the image, colored it with Copic markers, and cut it out with Nestabilities. I added a bit of Stickles to the image, tied on raffia with a couple of buttons, and I had a cute, quick TREAT.....easy peasy! This would be a great gift for a teacher, neighbor, or friend........IF you can resist eating the candy and leave enough to give away!

This is a busy week for all of my Design Teams. Whimsie Doodles, Your Next Stamp, and Treehouse Stamps have new releases, challenges, and there is a blog hop! Check back for more creations and fun!!
Have a great afternoon! LC

Woo Hoo!!

Check this out!! My Your Next Stamp bat corner bookmark made the Top 3 on Papercubed (P3) ! How cool is that? Thanks, Karen, for the great image and Splitcoast Stampers for the inspiration!

Whimsie Doodles Fun

Good Morning! It is the 5th of October and time for the new Whimsie Doodles release. Melyssa, Whimsie Doodles owner/designer, has created fun snowpeople and a  humerous Thanksgiving turkey. You can see all of the new images HERE and purchase them HERE.

Here is my project with one of the new images.

This is the Thanksgiving turkey "Get Basted" I used to make a gift tag on a fall kitchen towel. I printed the image on Papertrey Ink white cardstock and colored it with Copic markers. I cut the tag pieces with Nestabilities and added an eyelet using my Crop-a-dile. The tag is tied on with jute and artificial leaves were added. What a fun tag!

Be sure and check out the other Doodle-licious Divas' blogs to see what they have created with the new images. You can find their blogs on the right of the screen. Have a great day! LC

It is Day 2 of the Your Next Stamp Sneak Peeks, and it is my turn to share with you one of the new stamps from Your Next Stamp.
