Gal Pals

I decided to make a 12x12 layout using Magnolia stamped images; it was fun to do something different.
I used the following: Quickutz, Prima, Cloud 9, Bazzill
Cosmo Cricket (Girl Friday) from a kit

Close One Door, Open Another

It's that time of the year again. Elementary students are cleaning out their desks to find homework (saying out loud, "I told you I did that page!") several months overdue. Teachers are spraying shaving cream on desk tops for children to smear and scribble in...a fun way to clean the desks getting them ready for the next group of children to come bounding through the door in Aug.

School years are a great deal like the rides at an amusement park. Teachers and students get on a ride, sometimes enjoying it, sometimes not, but either way, the ride does end. They rest a bit, and then it's time to get on another ride. It's that way , year after year, until the teachers retire and students graduate. It's that time of the year.

This card is for a relative who is retiring from a teaching career, and it's like a career in education.....there's no money in it!

Rainy Days and Mondays

In honor of all the rain we've had in TN over the last month, and because I have purchased this cute Magnolia stamp and found the perfect DP and ribbon to go with it, here is my "Rain, Rain, Go Away" card. I used Copic markers, American Craft paper and ribbon, and a Magnolia stamp.

Happy Mother's Day

The peonies in our yard are blooming beautifully even though the rain has beaten them down a bit. I was introduced to these fragrant flowers when I was a little girl. On Mother's Day, my momma and I would wear dark pink peony blossoms to church to signify that our mothers were living. Sadly, my momma died when I was eleven, and I began wearing white blossoms to church. I didn't like wearing the white blossom because I felt it singled me out from the other children. I was the only child wearing a white flower. It seemed to me that the only other people wearing white blossoms were old people. I understood the tradition, but I didn't like it.

At the age of 13, I went to live with my half-sister and her family. Her children accepted me like a big sister. I will be grateful to Polly forever.

When our son was born, Mother's Day took on a new meaning. Much of the sadness of Mother's Day was replaced by the joy of being a mother. Griffin fills our lives with excitement, humor, happiness, and love. Being a mother is hard work, but so rewarding.

I am grateful for the women in my life. They have carried me through difficult times. Happy Mother's Day, and I love you........FPH, LGA, MDF, SSA, KKS, MO, AN, BBM, FJ, BH and many others.

This card is for Friday Sketchers #49.

It was definitely a challenge for me. The weather and my computer had clashes today, and then my sewing machine wouldn't cooperate. Somedays the project just falls together and somedays everything falls apart. Oh well.....
